News from briefing.com 9:15 ET ****** SUN MICROSYSTEMS (SUNW) 32 1/2 CLOSED. Leading supplier of network-based computing systems, including workstations, servers and the UNIX operating system is likely to be on the spotlight today as a couple of brokerage firms are making positive comments about the stock. This morning, Morgan Stanley has reiterated its "strong buy" recommendation in this issue and set a price target of $37. Meanwhile, Bear Stearns has raised its rating on this issue to a "buy" from an "attractive" and sees a possible upside earnings surprise that could push the stock price up by 30% to 35%. These comments are being made as the company holds its two-day analysts meeting this week. Until recently, the stock has struggled, trading below $30 a share following its 2-for-1 stock split. However, comments from these two brokerage firms should propel stock higher this morning as shares of workstation concern still look attractive at current levels for the longer-term investor.
