<<SANs are like a box of chocolates>>
Lord love a duck, Neil, ain't that the truth though? Dined with a former colleague and had an interesting conversation about their fibre channel plans. He works for a venture cap funded internet data vault, and about two months ago began investigating CPQ's fibre channel storage subsystems for NT (they really need it). They are looking for 3 - 6 systems for remote location and data mirroring. They're contracted for the availability and security of clients' data, so zoning for security is a critical function. CPQ rode point with their VAR and told them they would have that capability in a switch very soon. That was about a month ago, and he's fending off the account rep until then - he cannot afford to expose his customers' data to security breaches. I told him about a certain hardware zoning capable switch, and he was very interested and very anxious to obtain one. It's not an OTS appliance, it needs expert integration, so he needs to wait for the whole package. In the meantime, he'll check out Jaycor's line and package. I see a ready market out there, and these fibre channel guys can't get their stuff to it fast enough. They're trying, though.
<<Cheap motels are no place for a man of your stature<g>>>
I'm afraid any stature I may have is a figment of my own imagination, but thanks anyway <g>. Actually, cheap motels are a directive from my accountant. I've been strictly freelance for 2 years, and he says that if my income doesn't exceed my expenses and deductions this year, the IRS will declare my profession a hobby. Imagine that. I thought I was granted by the Constitution the inalienable Right to Almost Break Even! ;^)
