My wife would like the trip very much...but alas I have my nose to the grindstone. While I did note technology, I think about it in terms of 'pieces' needed with GM product OR different product to go to market.
Honestly, not hung up on GM up or down, but rather whose 'pieces' make an impact. That's why the flurry of notes about the patent is useful but in my view is oriented around patent mobility--good to have if you have a ton of sales with product that must scale. If someone wants the technology, it is a 'piece of a piece of a piece' that may give some PR to GM, but maybe not much other that license revenue.
I appreciate the note and will look for conference information.
Did you see my post on the other thread about the Microsoft/General Magic/Qualcomm deal? In my view it sounds impressive until you hear that Microsoft also signed a UK firm with competing technology GSM to Qualcomm--that is probably how much respect GM will get as well.
GM's WHOLE offering is a 'piece of a piece of a piece...' for Microsoft in the battle with PSION in the SYMBIAN consortium.
MOBILE access (Inter/ranet,PBX, Video) will DWARF PC network access very soon. Microsoft used to control the EYEBALLS via WINDOWS, now YAHOO and AOL rule. While they won't go broke when SYMBIAN gets established, their best view appears to be DOWN.
