Mutuals The following shows the % gain of 80 Mutual Funds since 1/97 (2 years) and since the Oct 8th 1998 reversal. The last column shows the 21 month gain prior to the start of the Oct 8 climb. Some funds, notably the higher performers, are less than 1 year old, so that data reflects since the start of the fund. The bottom line is that on average, the 2 year gain was 67%, of which ~50% occurred in the last 4 months. Moving funds to fixed or money markets during market downturns doubles these returns.
