Excuse me, but the whole concept of holding "them" responsible and trying to extract money from them seems a bit odd to me.

If you were some really heavyweight trading entity, you would have an account at some place like Goldman Sachs; and would be aware that it is the "nature of the game" that there will be times that things just plain FAIL.

I was once unable to wire funds into my commodity brokerage account because (for the only time I have ever been aware of it) my bank (a very large bank) had a major software problem at their headquarters wire room (for several hours).

Yes, it did end up costing me a LOT of money, but ... that's just part of the deal. These things do happen. I did NOT seek "legal compensation."

Jon.
