As I said, it's whopping longshot. And you are generally right on both of your comments.
One of the reasons for Thursday' steep decline in ECI's value was a concern that it will take considable time to integrate TadTelcom, much less to look for another player to absorb. Yet, ECI is on record for the last several months as saying it is looking for a US-based co in the 500-700M range. That presumbably would exclude a buyout of PAIR, of course, but there is more than one way to work out a mutually-benefical arrangement. I don't think ECI is the kind of firm to involve itself in a hostile takeover.
Yes, its growth, mainly, has been internal. As I recall, they did buy a US firm, teledata (?) some years ago, which hasn't exactly been a bellringer. I think it still operates as a subsidiary and is listed on the Singapore exchange. Culturally, yes, a bit of a problem but not overwhelming.
In any event, it was just a thought while trying to peer into the future. Thanks for your good comments.
