Steve, I'm not sure I agree with your assertion that momentum trading is not a zero sum game. Here's why: it seems to me that your model requires unequal market reaction to supply and demand. For example, suppose that there is a sudden influx of orders to buy 1 MM shares of XYZ and the price increases by a certain amount. Now assume that a few moments later there is a sudden influx of orders to sell 1MM shares of XYZ. I believe that the price of XYZ will go down by just about the same amount that it went up. Or am I missing something in your argument?
