Doc, Thread, Another "dark horse" possibility for the internet value portfolio: Ampex (AXC on AMEX). Yes, this is the same Ampex that originally developed video tape recording way back when. They have managed to squeeze profits out of a declining sales volume of their traditional products, but have been trying for some time to develop new markets/products, mainly by acquisition. Latest move was purchase of 20% stake in TVontheWeb, a privately held company offering "narrowcasting" over the internet, and they have the option of taking over the rest of the company. A whole lot of things could go wrong here, but the potential is staggering. There is an SI thread for Ampex which contains much more (and better!) specifics than I could explain. I would appreciate any opinions. Thanks, John Rowe
