According to the Citrix www page, ICA consumes on average 20kb of network bandwidth and is optimized for connections as low as 14.4 kbs A diagram shows it using 10 kbs, and another diagram shows it being used over a wireless PDA. According to a text I have, Motorola has an analog 9600 bit per second modem and another company has introduced a 19,200 bits per second cellular modem. So it looks like the answer to your question is that wires aren't needed, especially if the data transmitted is fairly limited. The spread of digital cell phones should expand the bandwidth considerably.
