To add to your excellent point, lower compensation expenses will result from lower profits for companies whose employees are partly compensated based on company profitability. Seems like this is a period of pressure on companies to increase productivity through use of technology because adding technology may be less costly than adding more employees. Imho, this situation bodes well for the future U.S. economic situation because our companies will be even more competitive in the global economy on a go-forward basis.
