First the subject title is possibly a bit misleading. Love is pretty much always war, its just played a little nicer.

The best way to win someone is to pretend that you don't really want them. People want what they cannot have. Sooner or later they grow up, hopefully, and discover that grass is pretty much grass and it does not really matter how green it is.

When you realize that grass is grass you are well ahead of the curve. The potential for real love starts at the very moment that most people call it quits. M Scott Peck wrote some great stuff about this in his first book. I believe it is true.

I have never stolen someone away, or allowed someone to steal me. I have always prefered to clean up the loose ends before moving on. This will allow you the time to confirm that you are making the right choice, and the chance of getting shot is much lower.

Never date a women who belongs to the NRA. Very bad omen.

BTW, someone wrote a book about this very subject, I do not remember the author, but I remember seeing it while looking for relationship repair manuals a few years back. I think it was called "Love Strategys or Love Tactics". Didn't read it but the back cover pretty much told a sad tale of manipulation and posturing. The cornerstones of a good relationship.

BTW BTW If you need one of these relationship repairs manuals, then its time for a new car. A friend of mine from Korea said they had a saying back home. The relationship is like a bowl of water and once it is spilled, no matter how hard you try, you can never get all the water back into the bowl.

Thank God it rains once in a while.
