It might be wise for folks that plan on doing a lot of trading to split total equity in half and open 2 accounts at 2 different online brokerage firms. With 1 account at E-trade and 1 account at NDB, Fidelity, or Schwab, at least you can trade in 1 account if the other has problems. Having a backup ISP might be well advised as well.
