Rebel,

Agree, and I see your point clearly in the Jimmy Stewart reference.

Competition is always a part of life, just make sure the prize is worth the 26 miles.

Not everyone has the same philosophy of love or life is true, but I think that human nature is not determined. Character is determined, but not nature.

Human nature is to want what we do not have. But a story is what you want and that is what I will provide.

A friend, we will call him Burt, wanted his ex back to tie the big knot. She was with someone else. He pulled all the stops; flowers, attention, garage painting, you name it and he was there. He got no where. Finally he bought the big ring thinking that this would show his conviction. Did not work and the other guy she was seeing just pulled back and even tried to disappear. Guess what? She wanted the other guy even more and she had only been with him a couple of months. My friend Burt had several years invested.

He came to me because he had run out of options.

I told him to do the following. Stop calling, stop flowers, stop everything. If she calls, and she will, say this. Jane I love you and although I want to be with you more than anything else in the world, I want you to be happy first. If you being with someone else is what will make you happy then I will respect it even if its not what I want.

And then I told him to disappear.

Took her about a month to come back, and sad as it may be, she begged.

Thats all I got, unless you want to hear the story about the time I pulled all the stops and after doing so destroyed any chance of her ever coming back. Not a good story.

Best of luck to you and I hope you get what you want.

matt
