For bullitin board stocks, there are no controls over how many shares are shorted and there is no official record, the figure is conjecture only. Market Makers can short BB stocks without actually borrowing the shares and without accounting for the number. This practice should change. I'm not sure of the actual number, these figures came from CAGI's PR team. I hope they are accurate because any significant price rise could result in a short covering frenzie....
