PR Newswire - February 08, 1999 08:21
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Safeskin Corporation (Nasdaq: SFSK), a leading manufacturer of disposable latex and synthetic gloves for the healthcare, high-technology and scientific industries, today said that it has been awarded a five-year, sole-source examination glove contract from Continuum Health Partners. The contract, which begins immediately, includes Safeskin's powder-free latex and synthetic (non-latex) exam gloves. Safeskin expects to realize approximately $20 million in incremental revenue over the life of the contract.
Continuum Health Partners, with over 3,000 beds and more than 3,700 physicians and dentists, is the largest provider of inpatient health services to New York State. Continuum's network includes distinguished medical institutions such as Beth Israel, St. Luke's-Roosevelt and Long Island College Hospital.
"We are pleased to announce our partnership with Continuum Health Partners, our second major sole-source award contract of the new year," said Richard Jaffe, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Safeskin. "Last month, Safeskin announced that it had been awarded a three-year national sole-source contract with Kaiser Permanente for powder-free latex and synthetic exam gloves. We believe that today's glove supply contracts are awarded on the basis of value, product quality and customer service -- three areas where Safeskin has differentiated itself from the competition. We will continue to leverage our leadership position in powder-free exam gloves to create significant market positions in synthetic, surgical and high-technology and scientific markets worldwide." |
