"Hi Steve, yet another question from Amsterdam. This time I would like your opinion about TSE stock Bid.com. There is a message on their home page telling they are working agressively towards a Nasdaq listing. Price sales is slightly above 2. If they go to the Nasdaq that could rise to 3/5 times sales. Are they any match for Ebay?"

Reply: Having just returned from Toronto and Canada Internet World where we discussed Bid.com I think a NASDAQ listing could help raise its awareness in the U.S. But we don't think simply listing on NASDAQ will make Bid.com a match for eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY - news) . No more than all the search engine stocks being on NASDAQ made them a match for Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO - news) . Competing happens in the marketplace and not on the stock exchange per se, although we do believe that many Canadian Internet stocks simply don't command as much valuation.<<
