Actually, you and Jonathan are both right. Momentum investors like PBHG emerging growth fund will chase high p/e stocks but conservative inestors know that eventually the band will stop playing and the momentum players will bail out! The solution: set a stop loss just below the downward boundary of the band of volatility to protect yourself against this possibility.
