John--Excuse me John. My apologies. Howard Belasco implied the need for FOUR (not two) weeks preparation in his article "On Your Own in the City."

zdnet.com

Isn't the Red Cross just recommending 2 weeks of supplies? Howard must be expect one heck of a "bump in the road." If its gets so bad that 4 weeks may be necessary in the U.S. as Howard implies can you imagine what might happen with global dependencies, financial and capital markets? He says in the article:

Having decided to remain in your current location and "tough it out", you will need:

1. Enough food for 4 weeks for each person.
2. Enough water for 4 weeks for each person.
3. A source of light for each room you will use.
4. A source of heat for living and sleeping quarters.
5. If you are in the north, you will need some form of heat producing device.
6. If you are in a more temperate zone, you will need to have warm sweaters and blankets.
7. You will need some form of sanitation, such as a chemical toilet.
8. Enough first aid supplies for the family. Any special medicines, or other devices such as eyeglasses.
9. Have about a month's worth of cash on hand.
10. Have paper copies of all your IDs.
11. Have tools available for standard repair jobs.
12. Have a battery-powered radio.

But then in his "Beware the Evil Tongue" article he implies that we should believe what our government says and didn't Sec. of Ag. Glickman say something like there is "no need for frivolous stockpiling?" Is the FOUR WEEKS supply stockpile Howard endorses frivolous or not? I'm soooo confused. Gee, I wonder why?

P.S.--Do you know if Howard Belasco is paid to write these articles or is this a public service on this part?
