Periphonics Receives $2.1 Million Order From Internet-based Travel Services Company
BOHEMIA, N.Y--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 1999--Periphonics Corporation (NASDAQ: PERI), a leading worldwide provider of products and services for call processing solutions used in Computer Telephony Integration and Telecom Enhanced Network Services, today announced that it has received an order valued at approximately $2.1 million from an Internet-based travel services company providing discount airfares, reservations and other travel related services. Periphonics will provide several advanced interactive applications including Large Vocabulary Recognition (LVR).
The Periphonics systems will be deployed in four communications centers in the Western U.S. where they will help the travel-services company handle tens of thousands of calls per day. Using the Periphonics systems, the company's customers will be able to speak a destination name and departure location and receive detailed fare information. Based on the terms of the order, Periphonics expects to ship the systems and recognize the majority of the revenue during its current fiscal third quarter.
