I read the Barron's piece, too, and wondered about the failure to mention the split. Of course that wouldn't have advanced the argument against "over valuation" since that would have meant that the stock was double overvalued. I like to think they were taking the split into account. (Or am I whistling in the graveyard?) That aside, the task of determining fair value for these internet stocks remains a mix of math, magic and guess work. As some analysts have said in recent weeks, when the more mature internet companies establish clear consistent revenue streams and profit margins we will likely see a shift from voodoo valuations to real money valuations and the measuring rod will begin to apply to some of the newer companies, probably to their detriment. I am confident that CMGI and its headsup staff are way ahead of that curve. Would have bought a truckload today if I'd had any cash available.
