Well you know how benchmarks work. All in all the Rage 128 is just
another main stream graphics chip with DVD which is what the OEMs want, Cheap Cheap to make money money. I sure wish the Conspiracy Project came out.

As you can see, the Rage128's driver immaturity is clearly apparent. In almost all of the benchmarks, the TNT edges the Rage128 in every category. Though the TNT scores aren't killing the Rage128, its drivers have a ways off before they can perform at the same level. 32-bit performance has been the only boon to the Rage128's 3D
performance. Unlike the TNT, the Rage128 suffers much less from the increase from 16- to 32-bit.

As a test of the game engine performance booster, I ran the tests with frame rate acceleration (FRA) enabled for the particular game and compared the numbers. As you can see, performance was enhanced very little or not at all. ATI might be better off leaving this troublesome applet out and instead concentrate on improving the overall performance of the drivers.

Unreal in Direct3D was a pleasant surprise though. Without needing a specialized patch or optimized drivers, the Rage128 performs better than the TNT. The difference is only fractional, but at higher CPU speeds, I think the difference will become more apparent.
