CB, a few years ago I toured the Phelps Dodge open pit copper mine in Morenci AZ. I noticed a few women operating some of the huge power shovels and earth movers. I asked one of the supervisors how the female workers were doing. He said great and if he had his way all of the operators would be women. Caught off guard (I expected him to say the government made the company hire them) I asked him why he preferred female workers. His answer was safety, safety, safety. The women operate the equipment exactly the way they were trained and religiously follow all of the safety rules. The men tend to take chances and shortcuts resulting in a much worse safety record.

Being the male chauvinist pig that I am, I was quite surprised at what I saw and heard. Maybe some women can put on a pair of shoes and get out of the kitchen.
