February 5, 1997 11:00 AM ET Allaire to integrate Verity's search platform in Cold Fusion
By Maria Seminerio PCWEEK On-Line Allaire Corp. will announce next week an agreement to bundle Verity Inc.'s Search+97 technology into its Cold Fusion 2.0 development tool for building World Wide Web database applications.
The integrated product will enable Web developers to build applications that simultaneously index and search both text files and database content, according to officials at Allaire, in Cambridge, Mass. The bundling deal is to be announced Monday, and the bundled package, dubbed Cold Fusion + Fuel Pack, is expected to ship by the end of this month, company officials said.
Future versions of Cold Fusion + Fuel Pack will feature support for other search and indexing features in the Search+97 platform, Allaire officials said.
The implementation will not require developers to write additional code to create database applications, since the Verity engine is supported within Cold Fusion 2.0 through Allaire's CFML (Cold Fusion Markup Language) server-side tags.
Cold Fusion + Fuel Pack will also enable users to simultaneously index and search static documents along with content stored in relational databases, and to index HTML directories for an entire Web site, company officials said.
