Two words why they're pricing it so low: INDUSTRY STANDARD. They obviously want it in every single drive made, and so are pricing it low for starters it seems. However, they do make reference in their road show materials that it is: "Required for performance of future head technologies". Also, that "Additional patent applications pending" for KM. I too have wondered why not more $, but when you look at $1/platter with 100% market share, you're talking : $600M in 99 (first year full acceptance is possible with lead times needed in R&D and incorporation into production) $700M in 2000 $800M in 2001 by Trend FOCUS and Peripheral Research
