<<Broadly, UP and GMGC compete, since both target phones as a means to access internet content. UP, however, requires these new generations of phones, complete with screen. They don't have a VUI play.>
Yes. At the moment, it seems logical that both products have a place in every system. At some point, phones will evolve and there will be less need for the VUI that GM proposes unless they do have a role in complimenting the micro browser, which seems likely.
If a micro browser is accessing via a NOC, what would keep them from having moments when its just easier to say, "Do I have mail?" than to key in a bunch of functions?
What are your thoughts on the fact that GM can send data with Voice as demonstrated with mapping coordinates sent to the AutoPC?
Finally, half the time I used Portico, it was from a pay phone. The other half was from my home or office. I don't have a cell phone.
