Jim, here is exactly what the celeron has accomplished for Intel. Marketplace confusion. The consumer looks at the celeron box priced against the PentiumII box see the difference and this is the good part . Why is is it so much cheaper? Salesman replys. Its a slower chip the Pentuim II. The kiss of death explaination. No one wants slower even if it is fast enought to get the job done. Consumer gets no bragging rights with Celeron. The Boss won't buy it Who wants slower workers. See my point. Consumer spots the AMd offering. find out its faster than pentiumII and cost less so he buys it and get 3D now brogging rights case closed PnetiumII and celerons go much lower. Celerons and PentuimII longer hold comercial value and what has no intrensic value are doomed to float even lower in price. Intel only hope is for the Pentium III to correct this tragic market fopaux. PS K-3's will be sole as K-3D's it's a natural. I was a weak intel posted hanging (marketing support) above a pentiumII box trying to convince the public that the PentiumII had the muscel to deliver better grapics. 3-D now says it in a nutshell. Its a much smother sale. and AMD saves the cost of the Poster printing, and the AMDsales men can use the time @work selling. instead of looking for the ladder in the back room to hang the poster.
