<Consumer spots the AMd offering. find out its faster than pentiumII and cost less so he buys it and get 3D now brogging rights case closed PnetiumII and celerons go much lower.>

Greg, thank God only a very small handful of investors fall for the same hype that AMD spreads. If 3DNow were truly a success, AMD's prices wouldn't have been in the gutter last quarter. If the K6-2 were truly faster than the Pentium II, we wouldn't be seeing the Pentium II being sold at prices much higher than the K6-2.

Face it, AMD was only able to compete on price and the theory that many retail customers don't need Intel's latest-n-greatest. Even that price advantage appears to be in jeopardy as Intel drives the Celeron prices to rock-bottom.

Where do you get the notion that the K6-2 is faster than the Pentium II? OK, so the K6-2 may be faster at Quake II with some non-AGP video card, but that's about it.
