I'd bet they added a lot more than that. It's just that nobody was counting potentially one-time customers. Amazon probably still believes I'm a "customer", even though the last book I bought on their site was in 1996! LOL But I guess now that I'm registered, I'm a lifetime customer whether I buy anything or not. Do you think that Gap Stores, or Wal-Mart, or Home Depot, or any other retailer at any point on its growth curve added 100,000 new customers every week?
