Can't sleep, so I'll keep at it ...
Yes, I know how much bandwidth voice takes. So what? If people want to talk they want to talk. They don't want to hear about bandwidth. GMGC has a scaleable voice solution here that works now. No problem.
Mixed mode "better"? Well, like most things in life, that depends. Market, visibility, type of data, type of phone yada yada. In any event, GMGC could easily go mixed data, just like UP could go mixed data. Neither one is precluded from that option.
Yes, I know UP technology pretty well. And when I don't know it I have a personal expert at my call. They have good stuff, but it is untested. Can I go buy a UP phone right now and use it? Where? I don't think so. GMGC is ahead in the actual deployed market, where it counts. UP better get motoring.
NT? NT sucks, Unix far superior. I almost didn't invest in GMGC just because of their NT decision. So you won't catch me defending that aspect of GMGC's plan. Still, in the big scheme of things that doesn't matter. It's now a game of partnerships, mindshare, markets and revenue, not necessarily in that order.
