I wonder how long until the retail brokerages realize that their huge increases in profits during the last 2 quarters was due to the retail internuts gambling on margin.

As soon as they figure this out, they're going to drop the margin requirements in order to spark business up again.

www.freepc.com is giving away computers if you promise to read their advertisements every day. of course, their website collapsed the first day of the offer and nobody knows when it will be back online.

Once again reaffirming my belief that nobody will pay for anything on the net. And why bother? Just wait for the next big upstart to come along who is willing to gain marketshare by selling you a dollar bill for 95 cents.

How long can this fiasco keep going until the whole idea of a market economy collapses?

Will we soon have porn sites paying people to view their "wares" ?

Will microsoft give me a check for 50 dollars if I promise to install their OS on my computer?

Maybe soon my local car dealer will give me a free car if I agree to have the dealer name logo on the passenger door.

Or maybe my local bank will give me $10,000 free as long as I mention the banks name to every person I spend the money with.

This is what happens when the stock market and analysts reward SALES GROWTH with absolutely no regard to profitability.

Of course, you do know what this means- the stock market investors and people buying secondary offerings are the ones that are giving me my books below cost, my computers for free, and my stock quotes.
