George, Oh yeah, NTT. Went snooping as long as I was on the wires prepping. The ATM/FC initiative has a lot of competition within NTT's R&D. Take a gander at what's been cooking in their labs, everything from air conditioning to underwater robots: info.ntt.co.jp They successfully transmitted 160 Gbits/sec WDM over a 10,000 km loop though, with solitons (whatever they are): info.ntt.co.jp Could find no references to Fibre Channel except for a "trends in standardization" report (in print archive). Oh well, everything in its own good time. Douglas
