PixTech Announces Joint Development Agreement
With Large CRT Manufacturer

Cooperative Agreement Focuses on 15-20" Flat CRT's

Company Demonstrates World's First 15" FED Color Display

SANTA CLARA, Calif., and ROUSSET, France, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- PixTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: PIXT - news) today announced it has entered into a joint development program with one of the world's largest Japanese CRT manufacturers. Under the terms of the agreement the parties will share certain technologies and intellectual property with the specific goal of developing a 15-inch ''flat CRT'' prototype for multi-media desk top computer applications using field emission technology.

Dieter Mezger, PixTech's President and CEO, stated, ''This agreement represents the opportunity to combine our Japanese partner's extensive CRT development and manufacturing experience with PixTech's leading FED technology. We believe that this is a major step toward FED application for large screens.''

In addition, PixTech announced it demonstrated several prototypes of the world's first 15'' FED Color Display during the Display Works Conference in San Jose on Feb. 3, 1999. The company had previously announced the fabrication of these displays on December 18, 1998.

''Today's announcement represents a continuation of this work by merging FED and CRT technology and we believe it has the potential to expedite the development cycle of a ''flat'' alternative to today's large CRT monitor,'' Mr. Mezger continued.
