Novus Telecom Selects Nortel Networks for Multi-Services Network
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ - Novus Telecom, Inc. (Novus) has selected Nortel Networks (NYSE: NT/TSE: NTL) to provide the design, engineering, and communications infrastructure for its multi-services telecommunications network serving major cities throughout Canada. Novus is a leading emerging integrated communications provider (ICP) of bundled voice, video, data, and cable television to the Canadian residential multiple dwelling unit (MDU) market.
Under this long-term supply agreement, which is valued for the first three years at approximately US$53 million (CDN$82 million) and is subject to vendor financing, Novus will deploy Nortel Networks' DMS-500 multi-services switching platform, the Universal Edge 9000, integrated with the AccessNode product family, and professional consulting resources to deliver bundled telephone and Internet services to its residential customers in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Ottawa, Canada. Initial service rollout is scheduled for Vancouver during the first quarter of this year, with remaining network implementation slated for completion by year-end.
