If you were working on a new product like Katmai and you weren't being pressured at the highend, would you put a lot of resources into speeding up the Deschutes core?

Are you saying there's no pressure at the high-end? What about DEC (Compaq) with the 21264 and in the future the 21364, AMD with the K7, and Apple with the G4. I can't pretend to know how to run a company like Intel, and they do things pretty well over there, but it seems to me they've been resting on their laurels (sp) while everyone else has played catch-up. And now everyone has all but caught up.

In my opinion, they are making the same mistake IBM did back in the 80s. Brand name only goes so far. They can still turn the tides again, but they need to get their act together and stop dicking around. And I'm betting they don't.
