Does anybody have different news ?
I came across this article in my quest for information about the deal. The rest of the article is negative with a comment that if the sale does not go through the stock could end up $1. This makes sense and corresponds to Will's book value of 60cents with addition of the 50million if the deal falls through, say 50cents a share giving the grand total of 0.60 + 0.50 = $1.1

This is my 5cent pessimistic opinion, on the other hand I am still siting on the stock and expect to make money, go figure.

''There is a lot of speculation out there about
renegotiation of the deal, but Avenor's position remains
the same,'' said Avenor spokeswoman Dominique Dionne. ''We
are absolutely confident that we have a value-building
strategy.'' Avenor will continue meeting one-on-one with
institutional and investors over the next few weeks, she
said. She declined to comment on what Avenor would do if it
becomes clear that it doesn't have enough votes to win
approval.

Daniel Veniez, a spokesman for Repap, said that, ''as far
as we're concerned, we remain committed to bringing this
transaction to our shareholders and we haven't contemplated
a revisiting of this deal; nor, I should add, have we been
asked (by Avenor) to revisit the pre-merger agreement.''
