C-3D Digital and PICKSat to Broadcast 3-D Television Network Via the Internet
SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Chequemate International, Inc., d.b.a. C-3D Digital, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: CQMT - news) and PICKSat Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of PICK Communications Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: PICK - news) have entered into an Agreement to up-link from the PICKSat gateway facilities in Miami, an IP broadband satellite delivered version of C-3D Digital's three dimensional (3D) satellite channel, C-3D Digital, now transmitting via the SpaceNet3 satellite. In addition to its existing C-band distribution, the new format will allow C-3D Digital's programming service to be received by Broadband Internet subscribers.
''We are delighted to have been selected as the broadband data and multimedia satellite delivery platform for this project. PICKSat will allow the C-3D Digital channel to offer its service not only to traditional television distribution networks, but also to the new emerging terrestrial broadband networks, such as Cable Modem (''QAM'') and Telco (''xDSL'') high speed data networks,'' said Diego Leiva, President and CEO of PICK Communications Corp.
PICKSat will use the Microsoft® Windows® Media Player application technology for decoding the C-3D Digital Channel on end-user PC's. In addition to Microsoft components, PICKSat utilizes the Philips Digital Video Broadcast (''DVB'') Motion Pictures Editors Guild-2 (''MPEG-2'') CleverCast Data Broadcasting System for uplinking C-3D Digital's programming signal and end-user device processing of the IP format C-3D Digital Channel.
''We are encouraged by the successful integration of the Microsoft Windows Media encoding technology which is part of and now has been fully integrated into PICKSat's Content Data Center,'' said Thomas Koll, vice president, Microsoft's Internet Customer Unit. ''Microsoft Windows Media Technologies will be used for the encode trials of the C-3D Digital Television signal from SpaceNet3 satellite to a high bandwidth Broadband Internet Protocol (IP) multimedia stream. This will open a new 3D multimedia experience to the users of the Windows Media Player connected via high bandwidth broadband terrestrial networks such as xDSL and cable modems.''
''We elected to work with PICKSat for the testing of an IP broadband version of our C-3D Digital Channel because PICKSat offers near term availability of our existing service via their broadband satellite platform. This can open new markets for C-3D Digital's programming service through new emerging IP broadband networks. In addition, PICKSat and its technology partners have the ability to seamlessly broadcast the high bandwidth IP C-3D Digital Channel onto these networks, which ultimately will lead to new subscribers,'' said C-3D Digital Inc.'s CEO, Michael Heil.
C-3D Digital, Inc. has developed stereographic three-dimensional (''3D''), and two-dimensional (''2D'') to 3D real-time conversion and display capabilities, which will be used by its 3D television network. Subscribers to it's 3D programming service will experience the exciting 3D effects through the use of C-3D Digital's patented technology. C-3D Digital, through its distributions channels, will offer its subscribers 3D movies, sports and other exciting programming, specially produced in stereographic 3D or converted 2D to 3D.
