Asian activities:

According to today's South China Morning Post, "In the past few months, several companies, including Compaq and Identix, have marketed products in Hong Kong that allow logging on to computers and networks by placing a finger on a small scanner."

Further,

"'The use of biometric-based security systems is growing more rapidly in this part of the world than anywhere else, particularly in security-conscious areas such as banking, securities and government,' said Phillip Sibree, regional director at Identix Asia-Pacific.

"The People's Bank of China uses Identix technology to guard access to vaults, while the Government Savings Bank in Thailand uses Identix to protect data in its computer centres."
