Derek, we are in agreement regarding C6X applicability to xDSL and competitive consequences to ROK. Am not clear, however, on the suggested next generation, C6X-equipped, x2 (56k) modems. I've asked this question before, what good would the C6X chip do to the x2 (56k) modem? I mean isn't bandwidth restricted to 56k, ie., no faster than current generation 56k modems?
And if (for reasons I don't yet understand) it is better/faster with the C6X chip, why not wait 'til second half 97 to buy one -- thereby raising the specter of shriveling modem sales for USR's 2nd Q?
Any insight would help. Thanks.
