C-Cube (Nasdaq:CUBE) subsidiary and the world's leading provider of
open solutions for digital television, today announced that its open
architecture solution had been selected by MediaOne(R) -- third
largest cable operator in the U.S.A. -- for its first
OpenCable-compliant installation.
When the MediaOne system is fully operational, it will be the
first non-proprietary, open architecture deployment in the U.S. cable
industry.
The C-Cube contributions include several core elements of
MediaOne's OpenCable architecture. DiviCom will supply the complete
head-end system, including the encoding, multiplexing, network
management and return path.
C-Cube Semiconductor will deliver a multiple chip silicon
solution: one portion drives the DiviCom encoder system, and another, the first of its kind, enables two-way interactive digital video in the customer's home set-top box. These solutions, combined with the embedded software and tools, deliver a complete advanced interactive digital platform.
