Hi again Hutch:

We are now both on the record. The world is a rapidly changing place now, thanks to the communication revolution. When the "gringos from the North are coming down to try to steal our gold " attitude becomes prevalent at a minesite, it stops mines from being developed.

At the Vancouver Roundup in Jan 1999, Ian Thomson of Ian Thomson Consulting gave the Keynote address on Central and South American Gold deposits snapshot session entitled "A social license to operate: essential for success in International Exploration". He described several occurrences of mining companies being turfed out of countries because public opinion was ignored.

Two lectures later, Patricio Jones gave the Snapshot on Argentina Gold.

As far as your opinions as to the size of the resource Arp will prove up. We are at the beginning of that process right now, and they say they have 8 million eq oz gold. Targets are open in all directions. I say they double that in the next 18 months. My money is on the table. Perhaps you will short ARP now and call my bet. I will then raise the bet when the price is right.

I certainly agree Barrick deserves watching. A great company with lots of good people. I'm sure some were not too pleased with what happened in Argentina over the last few months. Barrick, by their own admission says Pascua and area have the potential to become the largest gold and silver mine in South America....Alan Hill, Exec VP Development, Barrick.
