I agree. It's pretty obvious what it means though if you think about it. BAPI/NVXE is in the content production business, and C-3D needs content to fill the pipeline, regardless if it's a broadband internet channel or a C-band satellite channel, etc... BAPI has experience producing 3D interactive/teaching programs, and I suspect today's news now gives NVXE a new way to get content in front of schools, wherever there is an internet connection.
It will take time to develop, but whatever NVXE can produce in the way of content now has multiple avenues to travel to various consumer groups. And that is a very good indeed.
Broadband internet access, with ADSL speeds that are 200 times faster than a traditional 28.8 modem, will be seen more and more in 1999. ADSL modem technology has been under development for several years. AWARE, AMTX, and the name brand suppliers we all know are poised to offer high speed internet access over traditional copper phone lines. GTE is on the cusp of rolling our broadband ADSL internet access in their major markets (and it's going to be affordable, unlike T-1 lines). ADSL will allow you to download and watch video/audio on the same line you're having an incoming or outgoing phone conversation. No more trips to the video store, because with broadband you can request any video you want delivered on demand, over the same copper wires you now have delivering your voice data to your telephone - simultaneously.
CQMT is definitely looking ahead, and planning accordingly by developing ADSL broadband paths to their target markets. Piggy-backing off Microsoft's Windows Media Player software is also a good move, since it's likely MS will take the lead in making it possible to view real-time video/audio content over the internet, at the same time you're downloading your favorite webpage in real-time; no delays. Assuming NVXE hooks their wagon to a certain degree to CQMT, even as an independent content provider, their future should only look better and better as the months unfold.
All this just reconfirms in my mind that NVXE will once again see previous highs at some point in 1999/2000. And I can wait for shares I bought at less than 5 cents to climb back to old highs. The reward is worth it. |
