Gary - I am in complete agreement with your position regarding Cisco acquiring Alcatel. Cisco has made a point of only acquiring certain kinds of companies, and I really don't think that an old line French telecom company with a market cap of over sixteen billion dollars represents the kind of opportunity that Cisco would be interested in. Cisco had problems trying to work with the corporate culture at Lucent, with the old fashioned top heavy management style they inherited from AT&T. Imagine the mavericks at Cisco trying to work with a bunch of overcaffinated thin skinned passive / aggressive French socialist technocrats! Mon Dieu! Regards.
