Merrit, yes the loss of life for the Russians and Chinese was much greater than the US but keep in mind they were fighting off invaders to their home land. The US could have left them all fight it out but we sent our service men to fight and die on foreign soil. I do not think it the US contribution can be overstated. In addition we showed much more compassion for the losers than they would have shown us. The US war time production effort was simply amazing. I am a bit biased perhaps because my father and five uncles fought WWII . If we had to fight a war today we would be in trouble everyone would dodge why not the president did -g- Mike
