The 60's was my generation too. Apparently I learned something during that period that you didn't. My initial repugnance for Clinton stems from that period. While myself and several million others like me may not have agreed with the war, when we were called to duty we went, unlike your hero. He didn't shirk his duty from a sense of moral outrage or from any other altruistic motives. He did it to save his own skin and because he thought he was too good to serve. As he put it, "too intelligent to serve in the armed forces" and "destined for greater things" (his words in a letter to the head of his local draft board, a family friend). After several years of string-pulling and loophole jumping including a stint abroad, badmouthing the U.S. in England and of all places, Moscow, he finally outlasted the draft board.
This experience taught him well, as he has duplicated that feat in escaping justice these past few years by stonewalling, pulling strings, lying, and jumping through legal loopholes. He hasn't fought this battle out of a sense of moral indignation. He, above all people, knows the truth and knows he's guilty as sin. He's done it, once again, to save his own skin and because he's "too good" to be subjected to the laws that govern the rest of us.
His entire life has been a reenforcement of his concept of himself as a superior entity, unbound by the laws and ethos of the unwashed masses.
In looks as if the Senate is on the verge of agreeing with him. They may as well convey upon him the title of Lord Emperor, revoke the 22nd amendment in the process, and declare him "Dictator for life".
Fortunately there are still many of us that can see that the emperor has no clothes. And we all know what happened to Julius Caesar.
