Wow; Now that's a real list of super qualities, but I would've still wanted to know if you could "head shrimp" and "clean fish". Not that I would've expected it , but it would've been nice to know. ------------- Now I am reluctant to list "all" my achievements, as that would defeat the complete expungment I obtained. <G> I suppose that I managed to survive was my most outstanding achievement as not a lot of the circle I grew up with are still kicking. I quit school in the 8th grade, and made Charleston S.C. my oyster by the time I was 15. My adventurers started at a very young age ( ripping off the Mafia ) who I letter went to work for. ( but I never became a made man ) as I was of the wrong stock.
By the time most kids were getting out of high school I had been a numbers runner, bootlegger, and the live in door man for the highest class call house in Savannah Ga. ( the only man trusted enough to be allowed inside the house )& I have known more crooked politicians ( first hand ) than than the average person ever votes for. ---------------
All that aside counselor, the point I was hoping to make with the old song, was one that other fellows can not steal I'm sorry if I did not convey that. The "paper dolly" thing was incidental and held no significant meaning. It just happened to be the name of the old song, and as connotation's do change over the years and that is a very old song, I tend to think that back then it was a way of paying a high and pure compliment. Maybe a way of saying I'll love you any way even if you don't know how to "head shrimp" or "clean fish". <G> I'm sure it could easily be miss understood in this day and time. ---------------- Perhaps some day I will get up the nerve to post my first "formal dinner" at the call house, and how stunned and embarrassed I was at the time. ( all the working girls had better manners than I did ), it's a story, funny in a way, but sad in another, how- ever I doubt I have the talent to give it real justice if I write it. --------------- BTW thoes particular girls didn't "date" any one less than a lawyer, or banker.
