The scanner still has to recieve FDA approval (filed on 01/25), with this type of technology it is critical to have an idea of costs. What does the technolgy cost a hospital or clinic to aquire and costs on a per patient basis. On the PowerRx there are several companies in the private sector that are working toward internet applications. This is an area that has much potential going forward. My concern is available funding to capitilize the required infrastructure on this new venture. In reading the SEC filing the company seems to be running out of cash toward year end 1998.
In the press release it states a reduction of 40% of health care costs (pretty aggressive number), and in final negotiations with several competing Internet companies for joint venture? (There are several private funded competitors in the market).
No claims forms, cut out the insurance middle man (this has been attempted via Knox Keene driven physician organizations and has met limited success for these groups thus far).
Still interesting to watch and may be worth a small position for some fun.
