C, Slick and company are trying to do just that, but did you hear the head of the GAO testifying before congress today? He said the administration plan is a disaster because is doesn't fix anything - it just hides the problem under cash tossed in from the general funds. It does nothing about the fact that in just 14 years SS fund disbursements will exceed receipts, but it does allow the politicians to avoid making the hard decisions about raising contributions or the eligibility age or any other real fix.

BTW, for a very good case against putting SS money in the stock market, there was an editorial column in Barron's last month - Jan 18, titled "Inequitable Solution", page 52. It was written before the State of the Union too.

Regards,
Bob
