Think I'll make a 1 900 call just to test the techie's.

Hey, it's probably worth a few bux to check it out. At the very least, it's worth a few of *your* bux to me. <g>

Tell them you just bought a modem with no documentation and no brand name on it, but you were told it was a very fast one. To make it more interesting, make it an internal, but act like you don't really know the difference.

"It's got a silver plate on it with plug-ins for phone lines and a bunch of white switches I moved back and forth a bunch of times. No I don't know what position the switches were in to start with. It's got a bunch of spider-looking things that look like they're glued onto a green plastic thing. The green plastic thing has a bunch of gold patches on the right side, but I can't figure out where to plug in the power cord. It also had a bunch of little black plastic things poked onto small pins. Most of them are on my desk now. The rest fell on the floor somewhere. Oh! I see the brand name! It's a 'Rockwell'!"

At the very least, you'll make some poor guy's evening a bit more interesting, and give him a story to tell the day shift. *L*

BTW, can you tell I've spent a bit of time supporting end-users? :)
