I see Japan as having LOST it's competitive advantage in manufacturing permanently. Competitive Advantage (See Michael Porter's Book) is what turned Japan into the second largest economy following WW II.

Now the drive is for cheap manufacturing of high-tech products in SE Asia and China. I feel this will slowly erode away Japan over the next decade.

As for interest rates and the yen, they will go where they are manipulated to go. JMO.
