John C - now we finally have a thinking mans ''Bear" !

Selling Puts ! - now, finally someone who gets it ! Actually John; imho - this is the smart-Bull's way of catching the downside on these rolling trading ranges - trying to short on the way down can be a bit risky here imho. But, selling puts and keeping the premium if the stockprice exceeds the strikeprice or, getting to apply your premium to reduce your ''cost basis'' if the stockprice doesn't exceed your strike is a great trade here... Check some DO leaps if you want to lick your chops by the way... talk about locking in some potential 30-40% return potential.... enticing. RIG as well - looking very good here...some large premium hanging out there for the taking...fwiw

John, your scaring me - sounding a ''little'' bullish here <VBG> . How many toes in the water now ?

PS - for those who realize that this sector most definitely does and will trade on forward looking expectations -

""The latest API figures show U.S. crude oil inventories are
0.35 million barrels down compared with the same period a year ago."

bloomberg.com

So now we are at supply levels that are where we were last year - at about OSX what ? <VBG>.

... and now we have a clearly defined ''Trend'' of supply going down ... Global demand estimates are still up for 1999 over 1998; Gee; are we better off today than we were last year ''Trend-wise'' ? hmmmm
